Childhood Committee

Overview Article 6 of Decision No. 443, dated 20/10/1437 H, stated that the Council shall form all the necessary technical committees, provided they include a committee for children comprising in its membership child specialists and stakeholders. The term “child” shall include ages 0 to 18 for both genders, regardless of their health, social or financial status. The committee shall be responsible for proposing and studying laws, regulations, plans, projects, programs and initiatives that seek to meet child requirements, in line with the general objectives and policies of the Family Affairs Council. Vision Children enjoy healthy, safe and meaningful life, allowing them to seek positive participation in a diverse and competitive economy, and act as a building block in a rich social fabric that contributes to protecting the public interest. Mission: Continuously evaluating needs and harmonizing policies, programs and services to enable child growth and development Objectives Raising community awareness regarding the rights of the child. Activating the role of relevant civil society associations in child development. Supporting child research and studies. Striving to create child-friendly services by learning from global experiences. Workflows of the Committee the Childhood Committee has ten main workflows compatible with the Council strategy, which seeks to achieve the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030. They also aim to activate community partnerships with the private and third sectors to contribute to social development. The workflows include: Childhood Functions of the Committee Proposing and studying regulations and legislations related to children. Identifying strategic objectives and converting them to programs and activities. Monitoring children needs in society in accordance with social variables. Proposing, coordinating and supporting initiatives on a national level for children advancement, Online Safety, and Online protection Raising awareness regarding children rights. Verifying that relevant public and private entities are fulfilling their roles to the end of achieving the desired objectives. Supporting relevant field studies. Preparing reports on the efforts made by the Kingdom towards children. Building a national children database. Participating in relevant national, regional and international conferences and seminars. Studying cases referred by the General Secretariat of the Family Affairs Council. Representing the General Secretariat in meetings, gatherings and activities pertaining to the committee’s tasks.
